Max Poteet

It is with great sadness that Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors announces the passing of their longtime colleague, Max Poteet.

Max was a beloved rescue dog, born in March 2012, who became the devoted canine companion of Mr. Thomas C. “Tommy” Poteet, Sr. He faithfully served as the funeral home’s grief therapy dog, coming to work each day wearing his “therapy dog” vest, ready to comfort those in need with his gentle presence.

More than a pet, Max was a source of peace and reassurance to countless families during their most difficult moments. In addition to being Mr. Poteet’s loyal best friend, he had a calming spirit that made him a cherished part of the staff. Many considered him the most popular member of the team, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

Max followed Tommy everywhere—joining him for breakfast, lunch, and dinner alike. He especially enjoyed his favorite snack, Ritz crackers. While he had a fondness for his cousin Gabe, Max preferred the company of people over other dogs.

Max’s loving nature and unwavering companionship leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
